Peter Pan: Neverland- Second Star To The Right

Warning this Peter Pan was made 1953 and they show a warning about it. I’m not qualified to talk about the disrespectful parts but I’m talking about it today because there’s a musical based on it.

Quick Summary~

Tonight is Wendy’s last night in the nursery. While her mom and dad are at a party, Peter Pan breaks into the nursery to retrieve his shadow. Wendy helps him sew it back on, wakes up her brothers, and takes them all to Neverland. Neverland is a place where you never grow up with pirates, mermaids, and more.

While there are multiple versions of Peter Pan for the theater, my favorite musical version is the Cathy Rigby version. Peter’s role is naturally very acrobatic and she’s a former artistic gymnast. Traditionally, Peter is played by a girl because of all the high notes required. However, if you’re not into musicals, Mischief Theater is known for the art of having things go wrong during their performances on purpose. Naturally, they did Peter Pan and it is so good.

Comments while watching

  • I miss credit intros like this
  • Ah yes the left hand
  • She is a nanny dog
  • She’s well trained
  • She just fixed that
  • It’s not clean anymore
  • George has a temper
  • Chaos
  • Nana has been fired
  • She’s a great listener
  • Fiddle faddle🤣🤣

Face full of mischief

  • How do y’all sleep with such bright lighting in your room
  • Poor tinkerbell
  • Wendy you’re rambling. I guess you’re star struck
  • The power of imagination
  • He was going to forget Tinkerbell
  • How does Tinkerbell know what a kiss is
  • How much dust does she have
  • Song cue
  • Poor nana
  • I love how the kids turn into their most distinguishable features with no faces
  • They all dislike Captain Hook
  • I’d love to see an adaptation where the Darlings act like real siblings and Hook has a mutiny on his hands and if you’re in Neverland you can’t die
  • Never smile at a crocodile 🎶🎶
  • I’m surprised Hook doesn’t go ashore, away from the crocodile
  • A mild scolding from smee sends him on his way
  • What happened to the rest of the crew
  • Buccaneers have contracts, who hired them?
  • A warm welcome from the pirate crew
  • How do they have a pond in their hideout?
  • Tink changing colors isn’t in her later adaptations
  • I love how Michael and John say the same thing just slightly different wording
  • Weren’t they headed the wrong way
  • Narrowly avoided decapitation
  • Oblivious to tree movements 🤣🤣
  • How are they supposed to get Tiger Lilly back if they’re all tied up
  • Sirens not mermaids

Peter Pan doesn’t care if she drowned

  • I stand by Paint’s Ever After that almost everyone in Neverland has the hots for Peter Pan
  • You don’t have to talk down to her
  • I bet Tiger Lilly could escape at any point. For pirates, those ropes are shoddy
  • He’s stronger than he looks
  • General disregard for human life
  • I remember the commercials having that line
  • Poor captain probably has PTSD
  • Never smile at a crocodile 🎶🎶
  • Allow me to help make the hole bigger
  • Careless
  • I don’t understand why you don’t leave
  • That sign needed at most 2 nails
  • Poor Smee
  • How does John know what the chief’s saying?
  • I underrstand the language and general depiction is problematic. This song is about them wanting to learn more about their tribe.
  • Poor Wendy
  • I wish Captain Hook had a song for this part
  • How do the pirates know all the hot gossip of Neverland?

Breakup squad

  • Perfect interjection smee
  • Ah yes his word is super binding
  • Poor twins
  • The song for this part is better in the musical
  • Mom might take you but dad will be a different story
  • The reckless tune
  • You all hate working for Hook
  • Hope you all can swim
  • Then again some of you can fly
  • Wendy: the voice of reason
  • A bomb
  • Good thing you left the latern on the ledge
  • Do you believe in fairies? Comment below
  • She was blasted
  • Glad you actually understand
  • Wendy…you can fly
  • Doppler effect
  • Poor Mr. Starkey
  • Everything is a game
  • Your poor mast
  • Smee is out, he doesn’t want anything to do with it
  • Boing

The power of improv

  • Never smile at a crocodile 🎶🎶
  • He already took your hand, no promises
  • He let you off easy
  • Perfect timing
  • Poor bear cub
  • Funny enough the flying pirate ship comes back to haunt them in the second movie
  • And it’s like they never left
  • The lost boys weren’t ready
  • The mermaids tried to drown you
  • Just chalk it up to a dream
  • Seeing is believing
  • The dad going to Neverland is way more believable about why Peter chose their house.
