Hello people, who may or may not be invested in my Your Majesty series, this is for you. Check out what I have to say on what you need to know for college!
Don’t stress, you have so much time.
What you need to know for college:
It’s not like high school in a good way.
People are more genuine. They are studying what they want to learn so there’s no one who doesn’t want to be in class which makes a very respectful atmosphere. Professors are super chill and understand that we are all human. You can make your schedule however you want. There’s no one to tell you what to do/when to clean or do homework. It’s all on you to make good decisions (see the Magna Carta).
You will probably go through somethings that you never thought you’d have to go through.
For example, I never thought I’d have to experience coming back to the dorm and not having a working toilet because my roommate had a party and they clogged the toilet and one: tried to blame it on the rest of us when we weren’t home and two: tried to plunge the toilet with a toilet brush. It’s a funny story now but it was not at the moment.
Say goodbye to your sleep schedule.
In the dorms especially, people tend to stay up until 12 AM doing anything from socializing to playing video games. Plus, you never know when you’ll be staying up all night to study for your exam the next day or doing your homework that’s due the night of. Not judging because I have totally been there.
Don’t be afraid to ask for help
Whether this is emotionally, mentally, or physically. There are probably plenty of resources to get help if you need it. Plus, people aren’t mind-readers so if we don’t ask others how we can love them better and communicate how they can love us better, how are we all supposed to know?
Take some fun classes
It’s nice to learn things that aren’t necessarily your field and who knows maybe you’ll end up changing your major because of it. That’s what happened to me.
